The detailed program

Mont Blanc massif. Go down the Vallée Blanche on skis or snowboard with a mountain guide. This world famous off-piste ski route takes you from the Aiguille du Midi at 3800 meters altitude to the center of Chamonix at 1100 meters.

A total of 2800 meters of descent awaits you if the snow conditions are right. In case of less snow cover we will use the Montenvers train to return to Chamonix.

DESCRIPTION: You have an appointment between 8 and 9 am at the Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix with your guide. After a briefing and a check of the equipment, head for the summit of the Aiguille du Midi at more than 3800 meters. Before reaching the Vallée Blanche glacier, you must descend the Aiguille du Midi ridge. This descent will be done roped up with your guide and may require the use of crampons and an ice ax depending on the conditions. Once on the glacier, you put on your skis and scrupulously follow the instructions of your guide. If it does not present major technical difficulties on skis, the ski descent of the Vallée Blanche is in a glacial environment and only the guide is able to properly identify the dangers. The descent takes a total of between 4 and 5 hours to Chamonix.

A stop at the Requin refuge (if opened) halfway through is possible to enjoy a snack in a mountain refuge. In case of poor snow cover at the bottom of the route or in case of fatigue, the return to Chamonix will be done with the Montenvers red cogwheel train at 1700 meters altitude.

Groups are made up of a maximum of 6 people to guarantee everyone's safety. In the event of more delicate conditions, in particular when descending the Aiguille du Midi ridge, the group may be reduced: inquire at registration.

The days of descent are subject to weather conditions and the opening of the Aiguille du Midi cable car. In case of bad weather conditions or closure of the cable car, a day of off-piste skiing in a resort in the Chamonix valley will be offered to you.

REQUIRED LEVEL: This day spent in the high mountains requires good physical condition, good endurance and a good level of skiing in all snow conditions. If in doubt about your level, do not hesitate to discuss it before the outing with your guide who will suggest a half-day or a day of preparation in the ski resort depending on your level. This is the guarantee of a successful descent in good safety conditions and with maximum pleasure!

Note: snowboarding down the Vallée Blanche is possible but not recommended. Please contact me for more information if you want to do this snowboard descent.

Eric Moutain Ski Guide (07 67 18 08 01)

I am a High Mountain Guide and I guide you in the Mont Blanc massif, the Aiguilles Rouges, the Fiz, and the Aravis ranges. I take you on ski touring, splitboarding, off-piste skiing, or snowboarding trips to the most beautiful spots around the Mont Blanc massif.

I am a "local" guide, or almost, since I am based in the lower Arve Valley in Sallanches. I ski all winter on the slopes around Mont Blanc. I know the off-piste routes of the Vallée Blanche perfectly.

Environment, public transport and carpooling

One of our goals is to make the right decisions to protect natural sites and limit our impact on ecosystems and the environment.

100% local: thanks to our local presence in Bugey, close to our practice sites, we reduce our travel to a minimum. We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.

Protecting the planet: it's natural!
