Activities in Saint-Gervais, Les Contamines-Montjoie, and the Mont Blanc region with a high-mountain guide. The Val Montjoie valley runs along the western face of the Mont Blanc massif. Needless to say, the sunsets over Mont Blanc are breathtaking!
Quieter and much less touristy than the Chamonix valley, the Saint-Gervais and Les Contamines-Montjoie valley is dominated by Mont Joly, easily accessible by ski lifts, which offers a prime viewpoint of Mont Blanc. Skiing is available on the slopes, off-piste, and ski touring. Heading towards the Col du Bonhomme, the upper part of the valley is particularly well-suited for hiking in the summer or ski touring in the winter. The Beaufortain region is also within easy reach. In mountaineering, the iconic peaks of Saint-Gervais are, of course, Mont Blanc via the normal route of the Goûter, accessible by taking the TMB (Tour du Mont Blanc) from Le Fayet, the Aiguille de Bionnassay, and the Dômes de Miage. In winter, it's possible to try ice climbing on the icefalls of Notre-Dame de la Gorge. In summer, the Duchère area is an ideal spot for beginners in rock climbing.
Winter activities: off-piste skiing, ski touring, splitboarding, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and winter mountaineering. Summer activities: rock climbing, via ferrata, glacier hiking and mountaineering, and high-altitude climbing.
